Who We Are

Big Waves is a chain of modern, creative and dynamic Laundromats in the heart of Los Angeles, CA. The name "Big Waves Laundromat" is inspired by the owner’s passion for surfing and love of the ocean. We are looking to display local artwork at our storefront to give talented Los Angeles and SoCal artists a chance to show off some of their best beach/ocean/surf themed work to the hundreds of people that go through our Laundromat daily. As members of this community, we’d love to make the mat a beautiful place for LA residents to visit, and we believe art from the community will be an exciting opportunity for both artists and customers.

Please feel free to stop by and check out the store before submitting. We now have TWO storefronts (Santa Monica and Mar Vista) where we are displaying art. So your art could be shown at either area. The storefronts are located at 2439 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90404 and 3839 Grand View Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066 . Look below for all important dates, entry processes and rules. Please READ THE ENTIRE PAGE before reaching out with questions: email info@bigwaveslaundromat.com.

Local Artists Only

This is for SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ARTISTS ONLY. We will not be accepting submissions that have to be shipped to us and/or that we would have to ship back to you when the showing is over. Someone must be able to bring in and pick up the item. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS. We love all art, but we would really like to highlight our local community and would not like to deal with the liability of shipping art through the mail.

If you are chosen, your art will hang in the store for SIX months. A week before the end of that six month period, we will reach out to inform you when you can come pick up your art or request that we’d like to keep it up for the next few months as well. It’s up to you whether you let us keep it for longer.

Each artist would get a small plaque next to their art with the following information:

Instagram OR email OR number

Display Only

We will not be selling the art like a gallery or consignment store. This is a chance to get your art seen by hundreds of people every day at our location. We also post all of the art featured in store on our website and social media. If someone would like to contact you and request purchase of your item or other’s from your portfolio, that is between you and them.

There’s Always More Opportunities

You will not be receiving an email if your submission is not chosen for display. However, even if you aren’t chosen in one round, that doesn’t mean you couldn’t be chosen down the line! We keep your submissions on file and could reach out to you later. Feel free to re-submit for the following round or submit a new piece.
